Can you prescribe antibiotics?
Yes — if the clinical picture suggests a bacterial infection, I can issue a private prescription there and then. I won't prescribe just because you ask for it, but if it's warranted, you leave with it the same day.
Is the prescription included in the £49?
Yes. The £49 covers the full 30-minute consultation, examination, diagnosis and prescription. You pay the pharmacist separately for the actual medication — typically just a few pounds.
How is this different from an NHS appointment?
Time, mostly. An NHS GP has around 10 minutes per patient. Here you get 30 minutes — enough to properly examine you, explain what's going on, and answer your questions without either of us watching the clock.
Can you issue a fit note (sick note)?
Yes. If you're unwell and need time off work, I can issue a private fit note during your consultation. These are accepted by employers across the UK in the same way as an NHS fit note.
What if my condition turns out to be more serious?
Your safety comes first. If during the examination something suggests you need urgent hospital attention, I'll tell you clearly and direct you appropriately — including calling 999 if needed. This is a private minor illness service, not an emergency department.
