General Consultation

At Ph. my consultations are calm, unhurried and centred around you. I take the time to listen properly, understand what’s going on and explain things in plain language. Everything I do is grounded in up-to-date, evidence-based medicine, but the tone is relaxed and easy-going, no jargon, no judgement. We’ll go through your options together and agree a clear plan that feels realistic for you, rather than the rushed “tick-box” feeling of a standard 10-minute appointment.

    • A calm, unhurried appointment to talk through whatever’s worrying you

    • I take a full history and listen properly to your story, not just your “main symptom”

    • Review of current medicines, diagnoses, hospital letters and test results

    • Clear explanation of what might be going on, in plain language

    • Discussion of evidence-based options, including lifestyle, medicines and further tests

    • We agree a realistic plan together, so you leave knowing what’s happening and what comes next

    • Focused assessment of symptoms such as coughs, infections, rashes, urinary symptoms, tummy bugs and similar issues

    • Structured questions and, where needed, observations (e.g. pulse, temperature, oxygen levels, blood pressure)

    • Careful screening for red-flag features that would need urgent or emergency care

    • Clear explanation of likely diagnosis and how long things usually take to settle

    • Discussion of when medicines (including antibiotics, if appropriate) will genuinely help – and when they won’t

    • Personalised treatment and self-care plan, plus clear safety-netting on when to seek further help

    • Detailed review of all your medicines, including repeats, “as needed” items and over-the-counter products

    • Discussion about what each drug is for, what’s actually helping, and what’s causing side effects or hassle

    • Check for interactions, duplication, outdated medicines and unnecessary complexity

    • Use of up-to-date guidelines to look at options: dose changes, switching, adding newer treatments or deprescribing

    • Agreement on a simpler, safer regimen that fits your life and priorities

    • Written summary you can share with your NHS GP or specialist so everyone is working from the same plan

    • Careful history of your condition, symptoms and how they affect your ability to work day to day

    • Discussion about your job role, work demands and any adjustments that might help

    • Clinical assessment to decide whether time off, reduced duties or other support is appropriate

    • Clear explanation of what I can provide in terms of private medical certification and what may still require an NHS fit note

    • A time-bound, sensible plan for recovery, review and return to work that prioritises your health, not just a form
